Broadford Structure Plan

Have your say on Broadford's future direction

We're in the early stages of developing the Broadford Structure Plan - a comprehensive document that will shape the future look and feel of the town, and will guide growth and development.

Earlier this year, we called for people to join a Community Liaison Group to help with the development of the plan.

We've also hit the streets to find out what matters to you with a series of simple questions about households, travel, service gaps and opportunities for Broadford.

Essentially we heard that in order for the improved range of facilities to be attracted to the town, population growth was supported. We also heard loud and clear that the country feel should be preserved.

As we work on how to incorporate this into the draft Structure Plan which will be consulted on later in the year, we have begun engaging consultants to produce background reports on a number of subjects such as Biodiversity, Aboriginal Heritage, Bushfire Risk and Land Capability. We continue to work closely with the Community Liaison Group and Youth Council in advancing our thoughts.

We’ve also commissioned a drone photography firm to provide us with some exciting images for the document and future consultation events. However if you have any great photos of life in Broadford, feel free to share them with us and if selected you could find your image in the document itself. Please submit photos attention to Strategic Planning via:

Earlier this year, Council undertook resident household surveys in an effort to understand common issues and key local matters that are considered important to the Broadford community.

Community and stakeholder consultation has raised important issues that will be considered throughout the preparation of the draft structure plan.

201 households completed the survey and there were 40 online responses. The survey was also extended to traders along High Street for feedback. The response rate for the trader surveys was approximately 30 per cent (based on 13 respondents from a total of 40 businesses in and around the High Street precinct).
