Broadford Structure Plan

Thank you for taking part in the Broadford Structure Plan consultation process. This survey is now closed. We're still in the process of drafting, but keen an eye on our meetings at www.mitchellshire.vic.gov.au

We're still in the process of drafting the Broadford Structure Plan.

After our first consultation period in late 2020, we've made some changes to our proposed precincts.

We're looking to guide the future planning of the township and surrounds with the help of our community and business networks through the Broadford Structure Plan.

Based on the feedback we received, we have updated the framework for the future development of Broadford, identifying areas of future residential and economic growth.

The vision of the project is to:

> Build on Broadford’s existing strengths and address challenges to facilitate positive change

> Manage the future development of the town, meeting the needs of residents, businesses and visitors.

Set amongst visually stunning landscape features coupled with its close connection to excellent transport options to Melbourne, Broadford is a dream for those wishing to live in a country town.

By sensitively growing the population in a range of housing options the existing High Street will flourish and new shops, cafes, restaurants and jobs will follow.

Interest in living in rural environments close to major employment areas is a growing trend and there has been growth in Broadford’s population.

We would like to plan for growth in a strategic manner to ensure that services and amenities are not hampered by unplanned growth.

The Draft Broadford Structure Plan will be presented to Council in late 2021, however, before then we will be hosting a Communtiy Questions and Hearings Committee dedicated to hearing back from all the submitters to our original plans.

The meeting will be held on Monday, 30 August from 7pm at the Mitchell Shire Council Chambers, 113 High Street, Broadford.

No decision will be made on the Broadford Structure Plan at this Community Questions and Hearings Committee.

The final plan will be adopted if the Draft Broadford Structure Plan is approved by Councillors at a future Council Meeting.
