Outdoor Fitness Equipment Project

Consultation has concluded

Mitchell Shire Council is proposing to install accessible outdoor fitness equipment stations within Hadfield Park, Wallan, and Hudson Park, Kilmore.

These parks are ideal for this kind of equipment because they are centrally located, along the path of existing walking tracks, near existing public amenities and is largely popular for local events, markets and community use.

This project will be the first of its kind in the Mitchell Shire, as we continue to build on and explore opportunities for increasing physical activity.

In Mitchell Shire, only 32 per cent of residents are within the healthy Body Mass Index (BMI) range, compared with the Victorian State average of 39 per cent. This proves the importance of providing more equipment for community use to promote an active lifestyle.

The outdoor fitness stations will include a “wet-pour” soft fall rubber flooring surface at each site location, a concrete apron surround and vibrant, effective and long-lasting fitness equipment of all types to suit a broad range of users and athletic ability.
