Draft 10-Year Financial Plan Now Open for Feedback

Mitchell Shire Council has released its draft 10-Year Financial Plan 2025/26 – 2034/35, and we want to hear from you.

What is the Financial Plan?

The Financial Plan sets out how Council will manage its finances over the next decade to deliver on the goals outlined in the Community Vision and Council Plan. It is a key part of our Integrated Strategic Planning and Reporting Framework, guiding how we plan, fund, and deliver services, infrastructure, and projects that matter most to our community.

This plan includes long-term projections that show how Council will fund key initiatives, maintain assets responsibly, and ensure services remain sustainable and responsive into the future.

Developed with community input

To create the draft plan, we worked closely with the Mitchell Shire 2025 Community Panel, a group of 35 local residents who participated in a deliberative engagement process. Their insights and recommendations helped guide Council’s financial priorities and decisions.

Why your feedback matters

In line with the Local Government Act 2020, Council is required to place the Financial Plan on public exhibition and invite submissions from the community.

Your feedback is vital to ensure the final plan reflects the community’s needs, values, and aspirations, helping Council manage its finances transparently and responsibly.

Have your say

We invite you to review the draft 10-Year Financial Plan and share your thoughts:

  • Are the financial priorities clear?

  • Does the plan address what matters to you?

  • What should we consider as we finalise the plan?

Your feedback will help us finalise a plan that better reflects the needs, values and aspirations of the Mitchell Shire community. You will also have the opportunity to speak to your submission at a Community Questions and Hearings Committee meeting on Monday 28 July 2025.
