10 Year Asset Plan 2025-2035
Help Shape Mitchell Shire’s Asset Plan
We’ve drafted a new Asset Plan, and we want to hear from you.
What is the Asset Plan?
The Asset Plan outlines how Mitchell Shire Council manages the public assets we all rely on, including roads, footpaths, buildings, parks, bridges, and drainage systems. These assets support vital services and contribute to a high quality of life across our towns and communities.
Managing more than $1.2 billion worth of assets is no small task. Every asset has a life cycle, from planning and construction to maintenance, renewal and eventual replacement. This plan sets out how we make informed, long-term decisions based on how well each asset is performing, how much it costs to maintain, and how it supports our growing community.
The Asset Plan is updated every four years to align with the goals of the Council Plan and ensure our infrastructure continues to meet the needs of residents today, and into the future.
Facing challenges, planning ahead
We know our community expects safe, accessible, and well-maintained public infrastructure. But like many councils, we’re navigating the pressures of population growth, ageing assets, and financial constraints.
The 2025 Asset Plan outlines:
Where things stand today
The scale of the challenge
The steps we’re taking to manage assets responsibly
What more needs to be done to meet community expectations
Built with the community
To help shape this plan, we worked with our 2025 Community Panel via a deliberative engagement process. This group explored the issues in depth and provided advice on how Council should plan for the future.
Now, we’re opening the conversation to the wider community.
Have your say
We’re inviting all community members to read the draft Asset Plan and tell us what you think.
Is anything missing?
Are the priorities clear?
Does the plan reflect what matters most to you?
Your feedback will help us finalise a plan that better reflects the needs, values and aspirations of the Mitchell Shire community. You will also have the opportunity to speak to your submission at a Community Questions and Hearings Committee meeting on Monday 28 July 2025.
