Join our Community Panel

We’re seeking 40 community members aged 18 years and over to collaborate and help shape Mitchell Shire Council’s plans for the next four years. Whether you live or run a business in Mitchell Shire, you could be the perfect fit for our Community Panel!

This is your opportunity to play a crucial role in guiding the future of the Mitchell Shire as we grow and change together. As part of the Community Panel, you'll engage in discussions, debates, and deliberations on key issues, providing valuable insights and opinions to inform important decisions.

No special skills or knowledge are required – just a willingness to work with others and consider the diverse views and needs of your community. Please let us know when you register if you need support to participate for example, accessibility and sensory needs, language or AUSLAN interpretation, child minding, transportation and so on.

You must be available to attend two in-person sessions on:

  • 10am - 4pm, Saturday 15 February 2025 at Broadford Hall, 18 Murchinson Street, Broadford
  • 10am - 4pm, Saturday 22 February 2025 at Greater Beveridge Community Centre, Corner Lithgow Street and Mandalay Circuit, Beveridge

Each panel member will receive $200 as a thank you for participation and in recognition of your insights and lived experiences.

The Community Panel discussions will inform the development of these key plans:

  • Council Plan: Council’s priorities and commitments over the next four years including improving health and wellbeing outcomes
  • Asset Plan: Managing local roads, footpaths, bridges, buildings, drains, parks and playgrounds
  • Financial Plan: Financial management of Council’s commitments including infrastructure and services balancing the best value for money and delivering what community needs

If you think this might be for you, complete this form to register your interest!

Registrations close Sunday 1 December

* Please note, recruitment of the Panel is being undertaken by an independent organisation, Deliberately Engaging, if you have any questions about this process, please feel free to call Nivek Thompson from Deliberately Engaging on 0472 761 324.
