Aboriginal Cultural Heritage, Historic Cultural Heritage and Living Cultures Policy draft

Consultation has concluded. For more information on this project, please contact us on 5734 6200.

We've prepared a new policy to formalise Council's current practices and to meet updated legislative requirements through the establishment of an Aboriginal Cultural Heritage, Historic Cultural Heritage and Living Cultures Policy.

This policy is set to replace the current Heritage Policy that was endorsed in 2009. The new policy reflects current practices and regulations.

Over the past few months, we've sought feedback from the Taungurung and Wurundjeri Registered Aboriginal Parties as well as our Heritage Advisory Committee and historic societies.

We're now presenting the document to the wider Mitchell Shire community, and surrounding communities for input before we consider the policy for adoption.
