Mitchell 2050 Community Vision

Consultation has concluded

Tree with colourful roots running from the ground to the leaves representing the aspirations for life in Mitchell Shire

In 2021, we developed the Mitchell 2050 Community Vision together.  Almost 2,500 people from across all life stages, nationalities, faiths and genders reached out and shared their dreams and aspirations for the future.

We asked you to dream big, and you did. Six major themes arose from the answers you provided, from these responses there was over 11,000 unique pieces of information. The six themes were developed.  Each theme has an aspiration attached to it describing the outcomes you are wanting to see Council focus on.

The Mitchell 2050 Community Vision is a projection of what Mitchell Shire aspires to be in 2050. It is based on feedback from our current community and future community needs.  Creating the community vision is part of our continual process to improve the overall quality of life for those living in Mitchell Shire.

You can view the themes and aspirations at here and learn more about how it was developed.

Review of the Mitchell 2050 Community Vision

It's been 4 years since the Vision came to life, we're revisiting our Community Vision and Themes and seeking your valuable feedback. We want to ensure that they still resonate with your aspirations and confirm that we're aligned with the right goals. We're also eager to identify any elements you believe are missing. Your input will guide the strategic direction and priorities for the upcoming Council Plan and Health and Wellbeing Plan. Additionally, it will assist us in refreshing our Asset Plan and Financial Plan. While we won't overhaul the vision or discard any themes entirely, your insights from this check-in may prompt some adjustments based on community feedback.

We will consult with you again if we do plan to make any changes.

Version 2

In 2021, we collaborated with our community to create a 30-year Community Vision.

Under the Local Government Act, every 4 years Council must develop or review a community vision and long-term planning documents to support the vision.

We are currently conducting a review of the Vision to ensure it still aligns with the aspirations and priorities identified by you, before we embark on developing a new four-year Council Plan, Health and Wellbeing plan, and review of the Asset Plan and Financial Plan

You can view the themes and aspirations at here and learn more about how it was developed.
