Mitchell 2050 Community Vision

Consultation has concluded

Tree with colourful roots running from the ground to the leaves representing the aspirations for life in Mitchell Shire

In 2021, we developed the Mitchell 2050 Community Vision together.  Almost 2,500 people from across all life stages, nationalities, faiths and genders reached out and shared their dreams and aspirations for the future.

We asked you to dream big, and you did. Six major themes arose from the answers you provided, from these responses there was over 11,000 unique pieces of information. The six themes were developed.  Each theme has an aspiration attached to it describing the outcomes you are wanting to see Council focus on.

The Mitchell 2050 Community Vision is a projection of what Mitchell Shire aspires to be in 2050. It is based on feedback from our current community and future community needs.  Creating the community vision is part of our continual process to improve the overall quality of life for those living in Mitchell Shire.

You can view the themes and aspirations at https://www.mitchellshire.vic.gov.au/mitchell2050/themes and learn more about how it was developed.

Vision statement

We are a healthy, vibrant and connected community that values nature, diversity and innovation.

Our wish for the future

Mitchell will become a place that people of all ages love to call home. Where we celebrate our natural beauty and where businesses prosper.

Checking in on Mitchell 2050 Community Vision

Today, we are checking in with you about the Mitchell 2050 Community Vision themes and aspirations to make sure that these still resonate with you, so that we can again use these to inform the strategic direction and health and wellbeing priorities for the next Council Plan and Health and Wellbeing Plan.  We won't re-write the vision completely, or remove any themes but you might see some changes based on what community tell us in this check in.

We will consult with you again if we do plan to make any changes.

  • CLOSED: This survey has concluded.

Based on the nearly 1500 responses we received, we've prepared some draft themes, focus areas for each theme and some possible vision statements.

We're checking in to see what you think of the themes and to help draft a vision statement.

    Emerging themes

You can help choose priority focus areas by choosing your top three under each theme and provide comments. There are six themes. The first two have a lot of focus areas. You will still be able to choose your top 3 on a mobile but it will be easier to see the whole list at once on a laptop or desktop computer. The others are shorter lists and will be easily used on mobiles or computers.

    Vision statement

You can help choose a draft vision statement from 10 that we've prepared based on the input received earlier this year. There are many similarities between the 10 options, but there are also a few differences. You can let us know which one you like the best and why or you can suggest other ones.

  • CLOSED: This survey has concluded.

Mitchell Shire Council is asking you to share your views and ideas about what you want Mitchell to look, feel and be like, by the year 2050. Your input will help us to create a new vision for Mitchell Shire and identify the goals and priorities needed to bring your vision to life. The information will also be used to help shape the next Council Plan and the Health and Wellbeing Plan.

This survey will take about 15 minutes to complete. All questions are optional and all personal information collected will remain confidential.

Thank you for your time. It’s most appreciated. This survey closes 9am, Monday 10 May 2021.

    Prefer to chat in person?

We'll be popping up at local events across April and early May so you can share your thoughts with us in person. Keep an eye on the website to see where we'll be appearing.
