Aquatic and Leisure Study
Consultation has concluded
We're calling on the community to take part in a survey to identify what activities, programs and functions you would like to see in a new aquatic centre for Wallan, Beveridge and the wider growth area.
Stage 1 input will help in the development of concepts for the centre. The concepts will also help identify location options which will be presented back to the community for further input in the next stage of the study.
Project partners
The Victorian Government has provided $150,000 towards the study through Sport and Recreation Victoria.
Get involved
You can get involved by taking the current survey online here or at one of our drop in sessions.
Survey closes 2 September.

Background information
Share Background information on Facebook Share Background information on Twitter Share Background information on Linkedin Email Background information linkThere are currently two multi-purpose aquatic and leisure centres in Mitchell Shire - one in Kilmore and one in Seymour.
We are already experiencing rapid population growth in the south of our shire. This is expected to accelerate over the next few years.
We will need to cater for this growth in coming years.
There is strong community interest in creating a third multi-purpose aquatic centre to serve Wallan and Beveridge. We also need to plan for the needs of our new and emerging communities of the future.
Mitchell Shire Council has received funding from the Victorian Government for a study to identify:
- what range of facilities, programs and services will need to be accommodated
- what sort of centre will be needed to cater for this growth
As part of the study, this information will be used to:
- identify concept plans and options for a new centre
- identify potential sites where this could be accommodated
- identify indicative costs for a centre
