We're calling on a second round of submissions for the Draft King and Queen Street Masterplan, Wallan, to inform all submitters - and even those who missed out the first time - of the next steps

After reviewing a number of submissions from the first round which closed in August 2020, we decided to investigate a number of the projects within the Masterplan.

We've developed a Draft Masterplan for the King and Queen Street precinct area to help guide development and growth over the next few decades.

So, join us at a face to face drop in session to discuss the changes we've made to the Masterplan, or view the fact sheets under Documents:

So what are we proposing in the draft of the Masterplan?

  • The potential to open a new open space park for the community
  • New roads to link Watson Street and William Street to improve connectivity
  • A shared footpath to connect the Community Park with Mittagong Creek and expand accessibility in Wallan
  • More residential options for a growing community

The King and Queen Street precinct is one of several planned residential growth areas in Wallan, which will cater for much of the town’s planned growth.

As outlined in the Draft Masterplan, Mitchell Shire is forecast to house more than 128,000 residents by 2040. This means about 447 homes or dwellings will need to be built each year to allow this many people to call Wallan home.

The Draft Masterplan proposes also more road connections to the newly funded completion of the Watson Street Diamond Interchange project.

The precinct is bounded by Windham Street to the west, William Street to the north, Mittagong Creek to the east, and the Wallan Creek, Watson Street and existing development to the south. The precinct was identified as a priority project area in the Wallan Structure Plan as it is located close to Wallan's commercial hub, shopping centres, schools and Hudson Park.

This $50,000 project is funded by the Victorian Government's Growing Suburbs fund.

Submissions are public documents and may form part of meeting agendas and minutes. Therefore, your name, locality, and the details of your submission will become part of the public record. In order for your submission to be considered, you must provide your name, address, and contact email.
