We’ve prepared a draft Road Safety Strategy and Action Plan to help make our roads safer for everyone, whether you’re driving, riding, walking, or using a mobility aid.

This draft was shaped by community feedback from our earlier survey, along with crash data and expert technical advice. We’re now inviting the community to review the draft and share final comments before the strategy is finalised.

What we heard

During the first stage of engagement, our community told us about:

  • Intersections, school zones and rural roads that feel unsafe
  • Concerns about speeding, driver visibility and distraction
  • Infrastructure needs such as crossings, footpaths, line-marking and signage
  • Access and inclusion challenges for people using mobility aids
  • Opportunities to increase road safety education and awareness

This feedback directly informed the draft strategy.

Whats in the draft strategy?

The draft Road Safety Strategy and Action Plan sets out:

  • A vision for safer travel across the Shire
  • Priority action areas: Safer Roads, Safer Speeds, Safer People, Safer Shared Paths and Footpaths, Safer School Zones, Safer Rural Roads
  • Clear goals to reduce crashes, injuries and risk on our roads
  • Actions supported by community feedback, data and expert advice
