Help Shape Safer Roads in Mitchell Shire

Mitchell Shire Council is developing a Road Safety Strategy and Action Plan to improve mobility and safety for all road users – drivers, riders, pedestrians, and people using mobility aids.

We want to hear from you.

We’re inviting the community to share their experiences and concerns through a short online survey. Your feedback will help us better understand local issues and identify problem areas across the Shire.

Why your input matters

While we analyse crash data and consult with road safety experts, your local knowledge is vital. By telling us where you feel unsafe or see opportunities for improvement, you’ll help shape actions to reduce the risk of crashes and support safer travel for everyone.

The feedback will inform the development of a draft Road Safety Strategy, due for release in 2026.

What the strategy will include

The strategy will aim to reduce serious injuries and fatalities through:

  • Reviewing local crash data and road safety history

  • Setting achievable goals and actions

  • Aligning with the Victorian Road Safety Strategy 2021–2030

  • Focusing on priority areas such as:

    • Safer Roads

    • Safer Speeds

    • Safer People

    • Safer Shared Paths and Footpaths

    • Safer School Zones

    • Safer Rural Roads

  • Engaging with key stakeholders and community groups
