Why does Council provide subsidies for the use of community and sports facilities?
Council recognises the role that community organisations play in providing social and health benefits to residents through the delivery of community, sport, recreation, cultural and educational activities. This is especially so for organisations supporting vulnerable segments within the community.
To encourage and support these organisations, Council may provide subsidised facility hire. This Community and Sports Facilities Subsidies Policy provides the framework for the equitable decision making related to these subsidies.
Who is eligible for a subsidy?
The policy outlines the availability of two categories of subsidies:
How will I ensure my organisation receives the relevant subsidy?
Council’s facility hire management software will be programmed to offer the relevant subsidies to eligible groups through the booking process.
Will I need to provide evidence of eligibility for a subsidy?
Yes. Where applicable, hirers may be required to provide information to support an assessment under the policy.
