Community Recovery Committee
Consultation has concluded
Are you interested in taking a leading role in Mitchell Shire’s recovery following the October 2022 flood?
We are currently seeking nominations from local community members for the Community Recovery Committee (CRC).
What is a Community Recovery Committee (CRC)?
Establishing a CRC is vital to supporting community-driven recovery, allowing affected communities to guide and direct their own recovery efforts.
CRCs engage the community in the recovery process, by gathering information and ideas from local residents, businesses, and organisations, and using that information to guide the recovery planning and delivery process.
By involving local stakeholders in this way, CRCs can ensure that the recovery process is responsive to the unique needs and priorities of the community, and that the recovery efforts are effective and sustainable in the long-term.
Serving as a liaison between the community, the Mitchell Shire Council, and support agencies, the Committee will represent the communities across Mitchell Shire impacted by the October 2022 flood event.
Tasks will include:
- refining and implementing the Interim Community Flood Recovery Plan that identifies the short, medium and long-term recovery priorities
- distributing recovery-related information to affected residents
- assisting with proposals to attract funding and resources to support community recovery projects
- providing guidance to Council regarding the prioritisation of funds for community projects and initiatives
