Community Environment Survey

Consultation has concluded

Do you care about your local environment? Do you undertake weed control or tree planting or do you have solar panels? Maybe you would like to but don't know where to start.

Council is undertaking a community environment survey to obtain baseline data gain a better understanding of what our community values most about the natural environment, what environmental and sustainability works and activities are being undertaken and any barriers preventing these actions.

The information will be used to assist in the development of new programs and the evaluation and improvement of our existing programs.

Two of the of the desired outcomes of the Mitchell Shire Environment Strategy 2014-2024 are:

  • "local people respect, value and care for the natural environment directly, and in the way that they choose to live" ;
  • and "the knowledge, skills and capacity of the community to understand and practice natural resource management is increased".

Participants can go into the draw to win one of two $100 vouchers at a local native nursery or agricultural supplies store (Terms and Conditions apply).

The survey is open until 31 October 2017.

  • The purpose of this survey is to better inform Mitchell Shire Council of the environmental and sustainability activities being undertaken by our community members.

    The information will be used to prioritise, inform and evaluate Council programs.

    Some of the questions are the same questions that were asked in 2013 as part of the development of the Mitchell Shire Environment Strategy an in 2011 as part of the Mitchell Shire Sustainable Resource Management Strategy, so these will assist in measuring change over time.
