Economic Development Strategy
Consultation has concluded
Our new Draft Economic Development Strategy has been prepared to:
- grow Mitchell’s economy with a focus on job generation and sustainable economic growth,
- build on Mitchell’s competitive advantages,
- promote upskilling & innovation and strengthen engagement, relationships and communication with businesses
- identify projects and initiatives that will lead to significant economic benefit for the region.
The Economic Development Strategy should provide a five year plan for our Economic Development Team to strengthen Mitchell’s economy in conjunction with private and public stakeholders.
The draft Strategy draws on extensive economic research and community consultation throughout 2015 and includes feedback from community and industry surveys, community information sessions and meetings with industry leaders. This information is summarised in the accompanying Background Discussion Paper.
To provide feedback on the draft you can either complete the form below or email your submission via mitchell@mitchellshire.vic.gov.au. You can also view the draft Strategy and complete a submission form at any of our Customer and Library Service Centres - or post one in. All details are on the hard copy.

Your submission must be received by 5pm, Friday 22 April 2016.
Our officers will then collate all comments and feedback, and finalise the strategy including an annual action plan. It is expected that the Economic Development Strategy will be presented to Council for adoption in June 2016.
