The Draft Economic Development Strategy provides a five year
plan for Council’s economic development unit to strengthen Mitchell’s economy
in conjunction with other private and public partners.
The draft strategy provides a clear framework including a
vision, objectives, themes and actions.
Extensive consultation has been undertaken as part of the
development of the Draft Economic Development Strategy. This feedback has been
analysed and incorporated into the draft strategy. Consultation has
included;
Community workshops at Wallan, Broadford, Seymour and Hidden
Valley held in late 2015.
One-on-one meetings with 12 key industry and business
leaders.
Industry survey in late 2015 which generated 110 responses.
Community survey in early 2016 which attracted 186
responses.
Internal Council meetings including the establishment of a
Project Control Group (PCG) to assist with the preparation of the strategy.
Regional Development Victoria is represented on this PCG.
