Economic Development Strategy 2024-2030
Consultation has concluded on the broad community engagement, the draft Strategy will be out for community consultation soon.
Building Mitchell’s Economy Project
Mitchell Shire Council is preparing the Council’s new Economic Development Strategy (EDS) 2024-2030, building on Council’s continuing commitment to supporting economic prosperity and the well-being of residents.
The strategy will be a carefully planned, council-led approach to making the economy grow in a sustainable way and will identify priorities and actions and recommend actions to support a strong local economy.
The new Strategy is designed to:
- Describe a plan for the economy of Mitchell Shire, and talk about what we want to achieve and how we'll know if we're successful.
- Identify areas of economic opportunity and our strengths in comparison to other regions.
- Outline the benefits of future investment in the shire.
- Identify the key factors of economic development and how they can be nurtured to support prosperity.
- Provide a pathway to innovative, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth to improve socio-economic outcomes across the municipality.
- Offer a framework for action with prioritised strategies, initiatives, timelines, and metrics for monitoring and evaluation.
This project is a whole-of-Council initiative and will be delivered collaboratively with the community, business, industry, and Council’s key strategic partners in government. Stakeholder consultation and engagement is a pivotal component in the development of the strategy.
