Wallan Youth Hub redevelopment

Consultation has concluded. Please contact our Youth Services team for more information about this project on 5734 6200.

We're redeveloping the old kindergarten at 119 Wellington Street in Wallan into a new dedicated youth hub with high-quality consolidated youth services for people aged 12-24 living in and around Wallan.

About the hub

Mitchell Shire Council has commenced a significant redevelopment at 119 Wellington Street, Wallan. This building is owned and managed by Mitchell Shire Council and was previously occupied by Council's kindergarten service.

The Wallan Youth Services Hub will be transformed into a dedicated Youth Hub in the heart of Wallan township and offers a multitude of benefits for young people of Mitchell Shire and surrounds.

This Hub will enable the provision of high-quality consolidated youth services across Mitchell Shire with a one stop shop of essential, timely and appropriate responses to the needs of young people aged between 12-24 years.

Specifically, the project will include the redevelopment of an existing Council building to an integrated contemporary Youth Services Hub with the provision of modern facilities featuring:

  • open plan kitchen
  • consulting rooms
  • intake rooms
  • GP room
  • youth social spaces
  • modern reception and waiting area
  • accessible and ambulant toilet facilities and
  • landscaped passive open space, seating and shade.

The redevelopment will cater for young people living in and surrounding Wallan. It is designed to support the continuing growth of young people in our area.

Funding partners

This redevelopment was made possible by the Victorian State Government ‘Growing Suburbs Fund’ investing in critical local infrastructure for communities in Melbourne's diverse and fast-growing outer suburbs.
