Tourism and Visitor Economy Plan
Consultation has concluded
Did you know that Mitchell Shire attracts almost 700,0001 visitors per annum? Or that most of our visitors are coming to visit their friends and relatives and relying on our community to share their stories and favourite places with them?
Mitchell Shire Council is about to commence development of a Tourism and Visitor Economy Plan that will set out strategies and actions for the next four years. The work will focus on understanding how tourism and visitors impact our community and what actions Council can take to encourage people to visit the Shire.
To date, Council has conducted baseline research in 2017 (available for download) into the existing state of the tourism and visitor economy sector in Mitchell Shire. This research outlines key facts and figures relating to tourism, visitors, businesses and events within the Shire and has provided Council with a solid base to launch this project from and is likely to be of interest to businesses servicing the tourism industry and potential investors.
Over the coming weeks the Project Team will be undertaking consultation with businesses and community to gain a well-rounded understanding of the benefits and issues surrounding tourism within the Shire. A draft plan for community comment will be issued later in the year.
