Seymour Bushland Park Draft Management Plan
Following initial community engagement, the draft Seymour Bushland Park Management is now available for public comment.
Located on the Goulburn Valley Highway, Seymour, the Seymour Bushland Park is one of Mitchell Shire's significant bushland reserves. The Reserve holds environmental, social, and cultural values for the Shire as a conservation reserve and passive recreational area.
The Seymour Bushland Park Committee of Management volunteers manage the reserve in partnership with Mitchell Shire Council.
The Park is a 65-hectare parcel of natural bushland and is home to several rare and threatened species.
The Park was originally part of a 360 ha Kitchener Military Camp, used for military training from 1910 to the 1960s. Seymour Bushland Park was established as a reserve in 1978 to allow the natural environment to regenerate.
To further assist with long-term protection and in recognition of the reserve's natural values, Mitchell Shire Council registered a Trust for Nature conservation covenant on the site in 2006.
The Draft Management Plan identifies the reserves values, threats and actions to protect and enhance biodiversity values and the visitor experience.
