Seniors outdoor fitness equipment for Kilmore

Consultation has concluded. For more information on this project, please contact Council on 5734 6200.

Kilmore's Elms Reserve will soon be home to outdoor fitness equipment specifically designed for seniors. The fitness station is part of a project that will see three seniors outdoor fitness equipment stations installed across Mitchell Shire – the other two sites are Chittick Park in Seymour and Beveridge Recreation Reserve.

The Elms Reserve, a linear park in The Elms Boulevard, Kilmore, is ideally located adjacent a retirement village. The proposed location for the seniors exercise park is across the path from the playground at the east end of the reserve.

See the landscape plan here.

The outdoor fitness station at Elms Reserve has been designed in consultation with the National Ageing Research Institute and will include:

  • pull-ups
  • balance stool
  • calf raises
  • core twister
  • balance beam
  • ramp and net climb
  • step ups
  • push ups
  • sit to stand
  • hip extension
  • toe taps on platform
  • hip abduction

Other proposed elements for the seniors exercise park include information signs on how to use the equipment, new undercover picnic tables, additional seating, paths and additional trees to provide more shade.

Council will contact residents near the proposed site directly, and the wider community is encouraged to provide input to refine the concept plans to help create the most welcoming and comfortable facilities possible.
