Mitchell Shire Council is inviting community feedback on the draft Road Management Plan 2025 (RMP), which outlines how we manage and maintain the local road network. The RMP provides a structured approach to road management, ensuring our roads are safe, accessible, and maintained within available resources.

The purpose of the Road Management Plan is to:

  1. Establish a structured system for managing Council’s road network, based on clear policies, operational objectives, and financial resources.
  2. Set performance standards for road maintenance, inspection, and repair, ensuring a consistent and transparent level of service.
  3. Define Council’s responsibilities as the road authority, including maintenance standards and inspection regimes, to effectively manage civil liability and demonstrate responsible asset management.

The Road Management Act 2004 provides the statutory framework for managing public roads across Victoria. As a road authority, Mitchell Shire Council is required to comply with this legislation and any associated regulations in managing local roads under its control.
