Open Space Strategy
This stage of consultation has concluded
Help shape the future of open space in Mitchell
We’re developing a new Open Space Strategy to create a network of parks, sporting fields, playgrounds and nature reserves so everyone can enjoy healthy environments, active lifestyles and strong, connected communities.
Mitchell is changing rapidly with a growing population, changing townships and diverse lifestyles.
We need your help identifying how to make the biggest difference across our communities.
Get involved
We’re keen to hear from as many people across Mitchell as possible, whether you currently spend time in our open spaces or not.
There are a number of ways to get involved.
- Read the Discussion Paper or Issues and Opportunities summary
- Complete the Park Life Survey
- Host your own Community Conversation
- Talk to our team at one of our drop in sessions (note change of time for Wednesday 24 May now from 5-7.30pm)
- Join our online information session
- Visit our display at Customer and Library Service Centres in Broadford, Kilmore, Seymour and Wallan
- Call us
Discussion paper
To start the conversation, we’ve prepared a Discussion Paper covering:
- the context for the Strategy
- what we’ve already heard from the community
- our thinking on the issues and opportunities over the next 10 years.
Park Life Survey
To help shape the draft strategy, we want to know:
- which parks you visit
- why you visit them and
- the benefits you get from using parks.
We're taking part in a national survey so we can compare information about Mitchell with other parts of Australia.
Everyone across Australia who completes the national survey by 11.59pm, Sunday 21 May 2023 AWST (or 1.59am, Monday 22 May 2023 AEST) has the opportunity to win one of 10 vouchers for Westfield, Coles/Myer or Bunnings worth $100 each. Prizes are provided by the Australian Park Life Project.
You can take the survey online here.
Host a community conversation
