Help Shape Heritage in Mitchell Shire
Do you have a passion for heritage and want to help preserve our community’s history? The Mitchell Heritage Advisory Committee is looking for community members to join and share their knowledge, skills, and ideas.
Why Join?
As requested, the Committee will:
- provide a forum through which community representatives, Councillors and staff can discuss, develop, and contribute to heritage issues relevant to Mitchell.
- provide input into strategic heritage related projects (eg. heritage studies and policy development).
- promote heritage conservation and awareness within the shire
What’s Involved?
- Meetings: Every two months, generally on the third Wednesday.
- Location: Mitchell Shire Council offices or online.
- Attendance: Regular participation to share your insights and ideas.

About the Role
The Committee plays a vital role in shaping the future of heritage in Mitchell Shire. Together, we:
- Identify and protect heritage assets.
- Develop strategies to conserve and celebrate heritage.
- Support projects that strengthen community awareness and engagement.
Who’s Involved?
- A Mitchell Shire Councillor (Chair).
- Council’s Strategic Planning Team and Municipal Heritage Advisor.
- Representatives from local historical societies and Aboriginal cultural heritage organisations.
- Up to six community members not affiliated with heritage associations.
- Community members not affiliated with heritage associations.
Term of Appointment
Membership is reviewed regularly to ensure a mix of skills and fresh ideas.
