  • About the Health and Wellbeing Plan

    CLOSED: This discussion has concluded.

Developing a Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan is a legislative requirement of all Local Governments as outlined in the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008. Our plan reflects our commitment to working alongside the community and organisations to build a healthy, inclusive and connected community.

In developing this plan, we looked at demographic and health data, taking into account our diverse communities across Mitchell Shire as it grows. We also held many community conversations and consultation sessions to hear what health means to our community and how we help our community live healthy lives.

Mitchell Shire’s Health and Wellbeing Plan 2021-2025 draft has four priorities:

    1. Active and healthy: All members of our community will have opportunities to be active. We will all have access to healthy food and will live in environments that enable and encourage positive health and wellbeing outcomes.
    2. Informed and connected: Our community will be empowered and resilient and all people will have access to the services and supports they need to lead healthy lives.
    3. Safe and respectful: All residents will feel safe, welcome and respected at home, and in the community, regardless of background and identity.
    4. Liveable and thriving: Our community will rise to the challenges created by growth and climate change and be a liveable, prosperous and thriving place for all.

The Health and Wellbeing Plan presents our priorities, outlining our goals and key strategies that Council and its partners will deliver. Our accompanying background document outlines the data and consultation used to inform our priorities and corresponding strategies.
