Developing management plans for Council's Small Environmental Reserves

Following community and stakeholder engagement, the draft management plans for five (5) of our smaller environmental reserves have been developed, and we'd love your feedback,

The Reserves are:

• Highcamp Flora Reserve, Highcamp
• Catherine Court Reserve, Broadford
• Fleming Drive Flora Reserve, Broadford
• Whiteman’s Reserve, Broadford, and
• Green’s Pinch Reserve, Kilmore

What's happened so far

In March and April we sought your feedback on how you used the reserves, what you valued about the reserves and what you would like to see in the reserves. We received 30 responses. A summary of the initial engagement can be found here.

How to get involved

We are now seeking your feedback on the draft management plans. Here’s how you can participate:

• Read the Draft management plans - in the document section
• Complete the survey
• Pick up a survey from one of Councils Library and Customer Service Centres.
• Mail to Mitchell Shire Council, Reply Paid 70358, 113 High Street, Broadford, Vic, 3658 (no stamp required)

A little about each reserve

Highcamp Flora Reserve, Highcamp.

Located on the corner of Crawford's Road and Northern Highway, Highcamp is a 11 Hectare which runs alongside the former Heathcote Junction to Bendigo railway line.

Catherine Court Reserve, Broadford

Is a 3.6 hectare reserve located between Rupert Street and Mia Mia Road in the Broadford township.

Fleming Drive Flora Reserve, Broadford.

Located on the corner of Fleming Drive and Broadford-Wandong Rd, Broadford, this reserve is an open grassy reserve covering approximately 1.4 hectares.

Whiteman’s Reserve, Broadford.

Located between Broadford-Wandong Rd and Sunday Creek in the Broadford township, this small grassy reserve runs along a drainage line that links with Sunday Creek. The reserve is approximately 3.3 hectares.

Green’s Pinch Reserve, Kilmore

Located between Kelly’s Lane and Brannigan Drive on the ridgelines and upper valley of Hamilton Creek north of Kilmore. The ridgelines are open grasslands with areas of revegetation and young bushland on the slopes and along the creek line. The reserve is 35ha and can be accessed from Kelly’s Lane and Broadford Kilmore Road and several small pedestrian access points.

Closing date

Survey closes 5pm, Wednesday 10th December 2025.
