Community Engagement Policy Amendments
Consultation has now concluded, the Community Engagement Policy was adopted by Council on the 22 July 2024. Thank you for your contributions.
In 2020 Mitchell Shire Council adopted a Community Engagement policy, the policy guides and promotes meaningful, inclusive and transparent engagement with our community.
Updated Community Engagement Policy
After conducting an internal review in 2022, we have implemented some minor adjustments to our policy to better mirror our current objectives and the changing demands of our community. These revisions are geared towards enhancing our engagement practices in line with best standards, ensuring that our strategies are not only effective but also inclusive. Additionally, they seek to strengthen the effectiveness of our initiatives and provide Council officers with clearer guidance on implementing the community engagement principles outlined in the Local Government Act 2020.
Policy Summary
The draft Community Engagement Policy is our commitment to fostering a culture of meaningful community engagement, it follows the principles of engagement as outlined in the Local Government Act 2020:
