Council acknowledges the importance of ensuring all people have the opportunity to engage on local priorities and the future of their community and that engagement is transparent and meaningful that will inform responsible decision making for the benefit of the community.

Mitchell Shire Council is committed to thorough, transparent and meaningful community engagement that will inform responsible decision making for the benefit of the community.

This policy outlines Council’s role in providing opportunities which enhance the ability of the community to share their expectations, aspirations and ideas and will build on the strategic direction set in the Community Engagement Framework 2018.

This policy has been developed to clarify Council’s overall approach to community engagement, align with Council’s values and ensure that it is integrated into all aspects of council for benefit of the community.


Consultation has concluded. The draft policy is being prepared to be presented to Council Meeting in February 2021 for consideration for adoption.
