Help uncover our unsung heroes.

  • Are you passionate about highlighting the fantastic contributions made by our community?
  • Are you interested in hosting Mitchell's Australia Day Awards and citizenship ceremony?

We're looking for people to join our Australia Day Awards Committee and for communities who are interested in hosting our Australia Day awards and citizenship ceremony in 2018.

Australia Day Awards Committee

Australia Day is an opportunity to reflect on and celebrate our diverse society, landscape and the significant contribution that people and organisations make to our community each and every day.

Sometimes, these outstanding contributions can go un-noticed, and we'd like this to change.

We're calling on members of the community who are passionate about uncovering the wonderful work of our residents to nominate to join the Mitchell Shire Australia Day Awards Committee.

We're looking for 3-6 people to join the committee and help promote the awards through their strong community networks and actively encourage community members to nominate in the following categories:

  • Citizen of the Year
  • Young Citizen of the Year
  • Community Event of the Year
  • Access & Inclusion Champion Award

Committee members would also be responsible for representing the larger community in assessing the nominations against established criteria for each category and then recommending award winners to the Council for consideration.

Host our Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony - Expressions of Interest

As well as putting together a Committee to highlight the outstanding contributions of the community, we're also looking for community organisations to host Mitchell Shire Council's Australia Day awards and citizenship ceremony.

Expressions of interest can be made by filling out the 2018 Australia Day Awards Event Expression of Interest form below.

Alternatively, you can download a hard copy form and return it via email to governance@mitchellshire.vic.gov.au, drop it in to a customer and library service centre or send it via mail to Mitchell Shire Council - Governance, Reply Paid 70358, Broadford VIC 3658. Hard copy nomination forms are also available at our customer and library service centres or by calling 5734 6200.
